Position Statement

In seeking the nomination of MANA President-Elect, I am honored to continue advancing the mission of our nurse anesthesia community through strong leadership, strategic engagement, and collaborative advocacy. With five years of experience as a Federal Political Director, I bring a solid foundation in bipartisan legislative outreach, unified association building, and effective advocacy on behalf of our profession and practice here in Michigan.  I look forward to working closely with our Board of Directors and members to represent the diverse voices within our field—whether independent rural providers, private practice CRNAs, or those serving within anesthesia care teams. Together, we will strengthen our presence at both the state and federal levels, ensuring that the vital contributions of Michigan CRNAs are recognized, supported, and empowered.

Since graduating from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1997, I have remained actively engaged in MANA, attending annual meetings to support our state’s leadership and strengthen professional connections. I was fortunate to be influenced early in my career by mentors such as Dr. Steve Barnett, Dr. Michael Dosch, Dr. Frank Gerbasi, Larry Stump, Al Garvis, Paul Santoro, Mary Golinski, Dr. Christine Zambricki, Robin Zerka, Dr. Andrea Teitel, and Dr. Toni Schmittling. These leaders instilled in me the critical role advocacy plays in ensuring the longevity and advancement of our profession—demonstrating that giving back is key to moving forward.

As President-Elect, I will continue to draw on the strength of our more than 3,000 members by fostering connections across all five Districts and expanding outreach to unify department leaders across the state. This engagement is essential to increasing MANA’s visibility and creating a greater sense of belonging within our organization. I believe developing future leaders must begin early, during program training, and I am committed to supporting that pipeline.

I will also continue to embrace the generational diversity of our membership and maintain open communication on the issues that matter most to you. The strength of our MANA Board lies in its representation of all areas of practice—education, clinical care, and administration. It will be an incredible honor to serve as your President-Elect, and I look forward to representing each of you with dedication and purpose.

Position Statement
Throughout my career as a registered nurse and later as a student nurse anesthetist, I have been passionate about advocating for and educating others about the nursing and nurse anesthesia professions. I actively sought opportunities to serve on hospital and academic committees as a way to contribute to our profession beyond clinical care. Now, as a newly graduated CRNA, I am eager to continue that involvement by serving on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists. As a new CRNA, I bring a fresh perspective, a strong clinical foundation, and a focus on supporting the future of our profession.
